Thanksgiving. Black Friday. Cyber Monday.
As much as Thanksgiving is about family and gratitude, in true American fashion, it’s been transformed into yet another holiday of consumerism. It seems like Black Friday starts earlier and earlier every year, and Thanksgiving has less and less to do with the core values it’s supposed to represent.
And that’s where #GivingTuesday comes in.
#GivingTuesday (December 1st) is an international day of giving back – it reminds us that, in the millions of dollars we’ve collectively spent on ourselves and our loved ones during the shopping frenzies of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, there are still those less fortunate who could really use our help.
The Intero Foundation, founded in 2002, is our way of giving back to the community. To date, we’ve raised over $3 million and contributed to over 130 local non-profits. And Giving Tuesday has a monumental impact on our ability to give back – last year we raised over $30,000 in just 24 hours!
Join the Intero Foundation in participating on #GivingTuesday, and help us improve the lives of the children in our communities. You can even use this day as an opportunity to make an end of year tax write off donation.
So how does #GivingTuesday work?
You or anyone you know can donate directly to the Intero Foundation by going to www.InteroGives.com. You can even pre-schedule your donation anytime, now through 9PM Dec 1st.
However, we encourage you to donate on the actual day of the event, Dec. 1st, when there are POWER HOURS - times where the non-profit with the most or largest donations may receive $1000+ prizes to their organization. The best times to donate on this day will be:
5:00AM-6:00AM PST (Most dollars donated)
9:00AM-10:00AM PST (Most donations)
11:00AM-12:00PM PST (Most dollars donated)
2:00PM-3:00PM PST (Most donations)
5:00PM-6:00PM PST (Most dollars donated)
8:00PM-9:00PM PST (Most donations)
11:00PM-12:00AM PST (Most dollars donated)
Whether you decide to simply pre-schedule a donation or help us by rallying your friends and family on the actual day, you can help. You can make a difference in your community. You can show that you are truly thankful for all that you have, by giving back.
