Whatever It Takes

They spend all of their time trying to figure out an easier way of doing what they need to do to succeed instead of just doing “it”.  I see it all of the time.  People wanting to make a lot of money and be successful but they won’t do what it takes.  Instead they spend all of their time trying to figure out an easier way so they can avoid the pain and hard work that goes hand in hand with being successful.  Success at almost anything in life requires a commitment…a commitment to not only do the things we want and love to do but the things we need to do.  That is the difference between those I see who are successful and those who aren’t.  It’s not necessarily God given talent…it’s not resources…it’s not luck.  It’s simply a willingness and burning desire to do whatever it takes to push through the pain that goes with being successful.

Most people think the real estate sales business is easy money.  They think all you need to do is hold an open house, meet a few buyers, show them houses for a few weeks and then bang...you make a sale.  It’s why so many people get into the real estate business.  It looks easy from the outside but trust me it is probably one of the hardest professions there is.  It is very rewarding but an incredible amount of hard work if you want to be successful.  What most people don’t know is there is over an 80% failure rate in the real estate industry.  That’s right, over 80% of the people who get into the real estate industry don’t make it.  Why?  It’s not because they can’t do it…it’s not because it’s complicated…it’s because they won’t do what it takes to succeed.  And it’s the same with almost every industry in the world…it’s really the same with almost anything in life for that matter.  The key to success and being at the top is a lot of hard work and a willingness to do WHATEVER it takes no matter what.

  •  If you want to be a world class athlete you have to be willing to work harder and longer than your competition.  You need to be willing to show up first, leave last and do what the rest aren’t willing to do…wind sprints, lift weights, stretch, meditate and visualize, eat healthy, study, etc. And you need to be willing to do all of that in addition to what everyone else does.
  • If you want to be a great sales person you have to be willing to work harder and longer than your competition.  You need to be willing to show up first, leave last and do what the rest aren’t willing to do…make calls, knock on doors, invest in the marketing of your business, practice your presentation, practice your scripts, study the market, etc.  And you need to be willing to do all of that in addition to what everyone else does.

It doesn’t matter what it is…if you want to be successful and in the top 10%, 5% or 1% of your craft you need to be willing to do WHATEVER IT TAKES.  Will you do it?
